The Ottawa/Gatineau Printmakers Connective are joining the celebration by creating posters for a show downtown.  I have chosen to create my idea in the collagraph technique.  When I started thinking about the subject – All I kept coming back to is how lucky we are today!  We, us Women have so much.  200 years ago a women could not vote, run for public service or even have a bank account.  She was the husbandsˋ property.  And it was seriously all her hard work in the background that gave us females what we have today.   We need to be proud and respect what our mothers in the past gave us today.

***Now for the fun stuff  – The making and printing of the Poster.***

It was a good month or more my dinning table was in use for art.
Frist stage is to cover the poster/bristol board with screenfiller both sides.  One for the poster size 15 x 20 inches and another for the shapes I wanted to add separately.  And plan out what gos where.
The trees where really important for the image.  200 years ago, settlers were probably surrounded by trees.  I tried different materials but didnˋt like the look.  Then the light bulb came on 🙂  I used some of my handspun yarn.  I love to spin yarn and that for me was very symbolic with the women 200 years ago.  They were spinning because it was necessary.  I do it to relax as a Hobbie.  Lucky me.
