Going with the Spirit

Copper plates 🙂

This hopefully is the final fussing with the placement and printing sequence. It has been a couple of more studio visits to feel confident to go ahead.

Next time in the studio I plan to work on the background before printing the copper plates.

I love laughing at myself. Being a true ink lover. I layer and layer some of my prints. Anyway, see all those little wax paper bundles of ink? I just had to mix up more ink for another layer on a kite print I am playing with. And added to my pile of ink bundles.

Next studio visit I hope to take the time to open all the bundles. And use them somehow working on a background for the Spirit Bird.

Still might not be finished yet. I have an idea for one more layer over the whole print.

Happy printing everyone.

Still Not There Yet.

What I want in Ink

I had a much needed day in the studio yesterday. Worked on my second proof of my Spirit Dove.

Nope, still not right. I have hopefully ideas for better registration, like the relief printing idea for some plates, and maybe print some in Intaglio.
I have organized the plates in 5 layers for the next proofing session.
I love copper etching and the Edinburgh Etch

It took me 3 and half hours to set up and print the proof. Half hour of rethinking and organizing for the next Print Day. Then a good 2 hours of clean up. Good day in the studio.

Saying Hello

I haven’t had a change to get to the studio to print. Just stopping by my lonely blog to say hello.

A lovely etching from 2007. And I still Don’t Know all these years later.

Love taking photos out my apartment windows. I am in a basement apartment. I look up !

Woken up in the middle of the night to see the moon shining down on me a few nights ago. Took this picture with my phone plastered against my bedroom window.

That was my week.

Starting over Again

Lucky to have had two days in the studio. After lot’s of fussing with plates, making a template printing two layers of copper plates- I need to start over.

I do not like the dark plates. But I placed one of the wing plates incorrectly.
Looking at the template, I can see for some reason I choose not to place one of the wing plates on the template ??

I plan to start the proof again. Change the dark plates and fix the wing. That is what proofing is all about.

This is what I want in Ink and paper.

Happy Printing Everyone.

The Printing Plan

My plan in pictures.

Well sort of :/ I did not take enough photos. But that is sort of the idea.
Top plates
Second layer plates.

Copper plates are so pretty when they are cleaned:) I will be back again when I ink up some copper plates in the Studio.

Snow picture from last night.

And to end a fun music binder picture I made for my G whistle practice.

Music my other passion.

All the best wished for Everyone!!!

Copper Plates

I found the Copper Spirit plates. They need a good clean up, but not to bad for being in storage for so long. Always wanted to weld the plates together for a wall hanging. Kind of glad I didn’t.

The plates still need some fiddling around with. But I am glad to confirm to myself that the Copper Spirit will fit on a standard 22×30 inch sheet of paper.

My plan is to start with the bottom plates and print the image in layers. This is what I was left with when I took all the top layers to get to the bottom plates. It is going to need a little bit of planning and organization. Multiple possibilities also. The plates are etched on both sides of the copper plate.

When I get a few printed versions of the Copper Spirit. I am going to glue the Copper Spirit together and hang it on the wall. I don’t weld, but I am sure there is a good glue strong enough to hold it together. That I can do myself:)

Dreaming of getting back in the Studio and playing with lots of ink,

2022 Challenge

One With Copper, Art Every Day Month and Blogging for Peace November 5, 2009. Art Installation on my back porch in Ottawa, Ontario

Before Christmas I was thinking about how to get myself back to work and creating. But I was again not expecting everything to come to a stop AGAIN. I am so Bummed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And only getting back to work and busy and productive will help.

Anyway, came up with this idea – from a long time ago. I have moved a few times since then and one challenge will be finding the plates. Then seeing if I can fit them on the Studio’s big press. Next- will I need to print each plate individually? And so on, a good printing challenge.

I have never liked promoting myself with shows and selling. So this project “One With Copper” has never been in a gallery. More fun to buy ink and paper 🙂 then framing, The project has video, art installations, prints and lots of photos. The above photo of the copper bird was supposted to be a big wall hanging. It never got done. So hopefully in 2022 I will be able to print it.

One With Copper photo collage “Copper Spirt Kiss”

So for now “again”, I am sitting at home knitting, reading and playing my flutes, drum, and guitar and talking to myself. Trying really hard to stay motivated.

Hang in there and Stay Safe.
